Choose one of Maslow's needs and write a paragraph (not a sentence!) to persuade students to carry their agendas to class. Remember: Maslow's needs are Physiological, Safety, Belongingness, Self-esteem, and Self-actualizing.

Persuasive Strategies

For each of Maslow's needs, think of three persuasive topics that would appeal best (don't use the examples in the book!). For example, three topics that would work for Belongingness is join a club, go to a church, or wear pretty jewelry to attract the opposite sex. Due TOMORROW.

Appeal

Write one persusasive statement about drugs that would appeal to an emotion (fear, compassion, pride, humor) and label which you used. DUE FRIDAY

Tone of Drug Abuse

For the topic of DRUG ABUSE, choose a tone from the book on page 121 (ex: certain, patient, hateful, arrogant, cautious, etc) and write a paragraph about the topic with the chosen tone. DUE FRIDAY

Love Letter - Sept 30

Write a love letter either from Mickey Mouse to Minnie or from Minnie to Mickey. Use FIVE tools to make the language memorable (Parallelism, Antithesis, Rhetorical Question, Interruption for Emphasis, Repeated Sounds/Phrases, Inversion, Allusion, Metaphor, Simile, Irony, or Exaggeration) and LABEL them. Due Wednesday.
